BisRock has invaded not only in Cebu but also recently known in most places of the Philippines. It has pushed the Cebu music scene into greater heights. The term “BisRock” comes from the Cebuano words Bisaya, referring the Visayan language, and rock, for rock music. It was originally was coined by Cebuano writer Januar E. Yap in 2002, and and was first applied to Missing Filemon’s first album. He has a collection of short stories published under the New Writers series of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts. He also writes a column for Sun.Star Cebu and teaches literature courses at St. Theresa’s College and Cebu Normal University.

Everyone Must Enjoy Swimming in Kawasan Falls
Kawasan Falls is a very famous tourist destination which is located inside the mountains of Barangay Matutinao, Badian, Cebu. It is just 130 kilometers away from southwest of Cebu City with an approximately a three hours bus ride. When you get to the Badian town, you still have to walk in around 15 to 30 minutes or less along a very rocky and narrow path. Along the way, there are souvenir shops selling accessories such as beaded necklace, bracelets, and Kawasan print t-shirts are available for sale if you want to bring home souvenirs with you. You’ll have to cross three small bridges before reaching the falls.

The Hari Raya Puasa literally known as “Celebration Day of Fasting” is the Malay term for the Muslim Festival of Eid ul-Fitr. It is used to refer to Eid ul-Adha in the form of “Hari Raya Aidiladha”. The main greeting used by Muslims in Malaysia and Singapore is “Selamat Hari Raya” which means “Happy Eid” in Malay. Hari Raya Puasa is considered the most significant celebrations for Muslims. It marks the end of the fasting month of Ramadan (or Bulan Puasa” in Malay) and is a time of abstinence, contemplation, and worship for Muslims.

DTI Opposes Meralco Hike
The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) will oppose the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) ruling allowing Manila Electric Company (Meralco) to raise its rates as much as 36 percent. Presidential Management Staff (PMS) head Cerge Remonde said that the DTI is preparing a motion for reconsideration to the issue, but declined to elaborate.

A group called International Migrants Alliance urges students to think twice before going abroad. An organization allied with migrant groups in 23 countries said that the Overseas Worker’s Asssociation (OWWA) has failed to protect Filipinos working abroad. The Banaue Rice Terraces were carved from the high mountain slopes by Ifugao farmers the ancestors of the Batad indigenous people more than 2000 years ago. It is commonly thought that the terraces were built with minimal equipment, largely by hand. Banaue rice terraces stretch like stepping stones to the sky – some reaching an altitude of 1500m (4920ft). It is considered as one of mankind’s greatest engineering feat.
