American Emo-rock Band “Paramore” Rocks Manila
Thousands of Filipino fans went to SM Mall of Asia on Tuesday night just to witness the first Philippine concert of today’s world famous American rock band “Paramore”.
The band was formed in 2004 and originally composing of five members such as lead vocalist and keyboardist Hayley Williams, leads guitarist Josh Farro, bassist Jeremy Davis, drummer Zac Farro, and rhythm guitarist Taylor York.

9 casualties, 926 survivors and 63 still missing as SuperFerry sink off Zamboanga Peninsula
As of yesterday at 11 pm, there were already 9 people found dead, 926 survived, and 63 still went missing of the ill-fated ship that was sank on Sunday morning after tilting for several hours in Siocon Bay near the Zamboanga Peninsula.
In an initial investigation, Coast Guard chief Admiral Wilfredo Tamayo said that the ship left General Santos City at 8:45 a.m. Saturday and was heading for Iloilo when it began having problems with its generator. The SuperFerry 9’s generator fluctuated several times. Authorities said they would investigate the cause of the sinking as soon as search and rescue operations are over.

Noynoy may run for President in 2010 election
The son of the late ex-president Corazon C. Aquino might run for 2010 presidency when his main rival for their party’s nomination stepped aside. Liberal Party chief Senator Mar Roxas made a sacrifice by withdrawing his candidacy for next year’s presidential campaign so that Senator Benigno ‘Noynoy’ Aquino III could run.

Miss Philippines lose her dreams to grab the Miss Universe crown
Miss Philippines Pamela Bianca Manalo failed to advance for the top 15 in the 58th Miss Universe pageant that was held at the Atlantis Resort Paradise Island in the Bahamas. There were no Asian Candidates make to the top 15.
Even though Bianca didn’t get the crown, her families and fellow Filipinos are still proud of her because she showed her best and beauty in the reigning Miss Universe pageant.
The pageant was hosted by Celebrity Apprentice star Claudia Jordan and Access Hollywood co-anchor Billy Bush. It also includes performances by rapper Flo Rida, singers David Guetta and Kelly Rowland and reality star Heidi Montag.

Filipinos Bring Back the Memories of EDSA Revolution as the Funeral Cortege of Former President Cory Aquino Goes On
There are about 25,000 people lined the streets from the Manila Cathedral in Intramuros to United Nations Avenue to pay their final respects to former President Corazon Aquino, the National Capital Region Police Office said Wednesday.
Despite of heavy rains brought by tropical storm “Kiko” that affects several areas of Metro Manila right now, it doesn’t stop the people to witness the funeral cortege of the late President Aquino. The crowds chanted Cory’s name and flashed the “L” sign as Aquino’s hearse passed enroute to Manila Memorial Park.

Malacañang has declared a non-working holiday in all regions on August 5, 2009 to give honor of the late former President Corazon “Cory” Aquino.

Philippine President Gloria Arroyo Meets US President Barack Obama at White House
Philippine President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and US President Barack Obama finally met at the White House on Thursday (early Friday in Philippines); with the two leaders tighten the Philippine-US partnership despite of several issues.
President Arroyo is the first Southeast Asian leader who was received by Obama in the White House, arrived at around 3 p.m. at the executive mansion, where pro and anti-Arroyo groups held protests outside the White House gates.

CHED Announces Postponement of Classes in Metro Manila on Monday
Commission on Higher Education (CHED) formally announced the cancellation of classes in all levels in Metro Manila on Monday, July 27 in anticipation of President Arroyo’s State of the Nation Address (SONA) and Iglesia Ni Cristo’s (INC) grand anniversary.
CHED Chairman Emmanuel Angeles said that they decided to cancel classes on Monday due to the traffic that will be caused by the 95th celebration of the Iglesia ni Cristo.

NBA Lakers superstar Kobe Bryant is here again in the Philippines, which is a part of his six-city Asian tour for Nike that would bring him to Singapore, Taipei, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Chengdu afterwards. This would be his third visit since the NBA 2009 MVP last came here in Manila.
Fresh from winning NBA championship against Orlando Magic, Bryant and reigning pound-for-pound king Pacquiao recently met during a commercial shoot for Nike in Los Angeles.
