Everyone Must Enjoy Swimming in Kawasan Falls
Kawasan Falls is a very famous tourist destination which is located inside the mountains of Barangay Matutinao, Badian, Cebu. It is just 130 kilometers away from southwest of Cebu City with an approximately a three hours bus ride. When you get to the Badian town, you still have to walk in around 15 to 30 minutes or less along a very rocky and narrow path. Along the way, there are souvenir shops selling accessories such as beaded necklace, bracelets, and Kawasan print t-shirts are available for sale if you want to bring home souvenirs with you. You’ll have to cross three small bridges before reaching the falls.
Kawasan has three waterfalls. The first one is the largest and is usually the most crowded among the three. Everyone can bring their own food or just buy it there since it’s available from the resort’s restaurants. There are also bamboo rafts for rent to take you around the lake, or for a refreshing “waterfall massage” under the falling water. Life vests are available for a very affordable price. Admission to the falls (as of January 2007) was only 10 Php.
Everyone has the opportunity to climb up beside the waterfall and jump into the water, and to enjoy the cool and deep freshwater, while the surroundings are very relaxing and peaceful. The area is popular with locals as well as foreigners/visitors, so one must try to avoid the weekends and holidays otherwise you will share the place with screaming children, BBQ stands, and radios. Not only as water falls, Badian is also well known for its beautiful corals, reefs, and white sandy beaches making it an excellent diving spot.
