The Sandugo Festival, otherwise known as the Blood Compact Commemoration is Bohol’s famous festivity. The “dugo” is a Visayan dialect put into a cup and then drinking the contents thereof. Henceforth the Boholanos celebrated this special event although not as consistently as being done now. It takes place every year which commemorates the celebration of a local Philippine leader Datu Sikatuna’s blood compact symbolizes the treaty of friendship between him and the Spanish king conquistador, Miguel Lopez de Legazpi, a two people of different race and creed.

This native festivity usually begins in the month of March while the schedule of streetdancing competitions have been changed to July to coincide with the annual TBTK or Tigum Bol-anon Tibuok Kalibutan, translated into English, literally or otherwise as a gathering of Boholanos in the whole world.

Bohol’s capital the Tagbilaran City, celebrates its Charter Day on July 1 while the province of Bohol became a separate politico-military province on July 22, 1854, known as the “Bohol Day”, in commemoration of Bohol’s separation from Cebu’s governance. During the incumbency of Mr. Constancio Chatto Torralba as Provincial Governor of Bohol, from April 1975 to June 1992, the festival was given much attention and ever since gained impetus. Convinced of the importance of this historical event, Governor Torralba anointed the Sandugo Project and appointed Mr. Loy M. Palapos as Chairman.

Thousands of people in Philippines and foreigners gather for this special event which involves colorful costumes and loud drum beats, street parades, church services, fireworks, beauty pageants (Miss Bohol and Miss Tagbilaran), cockfighting tournaments and sport tournaments. The main highlights of the Sandugo Festival is a street parade with a street dancing competition, a re-enactment of the first sandugo or blood compact, and the Search for Miss Bohol Sandugo.

Forbes magazine has also listed him the 6th richest athlete in the world. President Gloria Arroyo keeps receiving Pacquiao as a Palace guest like royalty. She has recently appointed him as an Ambassador of peace and goodwill.

Former President Erap Estrada has intimidated his desire to have Pacquiao in his camp for the upcoming 2010 elections following their meeting in General Santos on the past 2 weeks. Even former US President Bill Clinton admired and had photographed beside Manny in Las Vegas hours before Pacquiao knocked Ricky Hatton out on their May 3 fight.

On June 14, Manny was crowned “fighter of the year” again by the American Boxing Sportswriters Association in New York. According to Forbes, Pacquiao take $40 million in the last 12 months. He now stands alongside 2009 NBA MVP LeBron James and American golfer Phil Mickelson.

Having that huge amount of money, at his age of 30, would be a more than enough reason to call it a day. He becomes successful as a boxer and still hopes to become a future Congressman in 2010 to serve his countrymen. Wishing you luck Manny and hope your dreams will come true!

She was born on June 29, 1986 in Camperdown, Australia. Her parents, Ray and Elena Villania, are both Filipinos although they are living in Australia. Iya is one of the Philippines television’s most visible and prominent personalities, she shares hosting roles for notable TV shows like ASAP Mania, Us Girls and as a VJ for MYX music channel. She was also ranked by FHM Philippines in 2008 as no. 18 of top 100 sexiest women in the world.

At the young age of 8, Iya began learning how to play piano which was influenced by her dad. She was also started to develop her voice to sing which encouraged by Filipino singers such as the likes of Pops Fernandez, Martin Nievera, and the Apo Hiking Society. Then, Iya which was accompanied by her mom and current manger (Arnold Vegafria) had left Australia to try her luck in the Philippines. The move was a hard one for her especially with the language and getting around the city. In fact, she was even rejected in her first MYX audition because of her heavy Australian accent.

In 2003, she got her screen name, Iya, in an anime-inspired endorsement stint for Globe Telecom. Among other companies, she endorses Bench, a clothing company, and Modess, a feminine napkin brand. She also is a model for a line of Epson’s printers, the X59. One of her TV appearances was via IBC-13’s Game Channel, an interactive texting game show. Iya’s acting credits include supporting roles in the movies Aishite Imasu and A Beautiful Life, plus starring roles in Exodus: A Tale of Enchanted Kingdom and the horror flick Pamahiin (roughly translates to superstition alongside Dennis Trillo and Paolo Contis). Iya Villania is currently studying 2 courses. She is taking up AB Psychology at the De La Salle University where she is reportedly a consistent dean’s lister. She is also taking up Culinary Studies at the Asian College of Science and Technology (ACSAT) which she is also endorsing in trimedia ads.

Oil price is again affecting RP which increases up to $70 per barrel today in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange. On Tuesday, it dipped $1.60 to settle at $69.89.

The American Petroleum Institute said that the US inventories dropped by 6.8 million barrels last week. Some investors will be monitoring for inventory data from the Energy Department’s Energy Information Administration for more signs crude demand may be growing. Economic analysts are expecting the EIA numbers to fall 2.2 million barrels, according to a survey by Platts, the energy information arm of McGraw-Hill Cos.

The API numbers are reported by refiners voluntarily while the EIA figures are mandatory.

The New York-based Conference Board honestly said its consumer confidence index dropped in June after gaining it for the last three months.

Senior commodity strategist “Mark Pervan” said that the oil right now is very short-term news to sensitive market. “The inventory data is giving people a reason to buy today.”

He also said “Oil prices will likely go down between 10 percent and 15 percent during the third quarter as the global economy remains sluggish and the dollar strengthens. Prices will probably then rebound in the fourth quarter by about 20 percent.”

“I sense this quarter will be a breather,” Pervan said. “It won’t be a major pullback, but it will be a pullback.”

Oil increases 41 percent in the second quarter and 57 percent in the first half on investor optimism that the worst of a severe US recession was over. Commodities such as oil also rallied on a weaker US dollar, as investors sought a side step against inflation.

In other Nymex trading, gasoline for August delivery was steady at $1.90 a gallon and heating oil held at $1.72. Natural gas for August delivery jumped 4.1 cents to $3.88 per 1,000 cubic feet.

He was born on January 27, 1961 and has his biggest break in Philippine Television when he started hosting the no. 1 rated noon time show “Wowowee”. Willie is a son of Myrna Buendia and Engineer Onorio Revillame. His mother was a 15-year-old food server while his father was an engineer when they met. They separated and Willie grew up with his mother. He was married to actress Princess Punzalan, his first wife and then to Liz Almoro his second wife, who was formerly a beauty queen.

During his early career, Willie lived as a professional drummer until he met his mentor, entertainer Randy Santiago, through a high school play known as “Tikboy: Alyas boy Dragon”, where he starred as the main actor “Tikboy”. Before that, Willie provided drum beats to Philippines Master Rapper ‘Francis Magalona’ during the rap explosion in the Philippines. In 1986, Santiago discovered Revillame while Revillame performed in the play and would then hire Revillame as his sidekick in the now-defunct GMA Network noontime show Lunch Date. Revillame stayed for three months on the show and was signed up by Regal Films to star alongside Joey Marquez in the movie Bobocop, a spoof of the hit Hollywood movie Robocop.

Since then, Revillame has been cast in movies as sidekick to other known movie personalities such as Philip Salvador, Rudy Fernandez, Edu Manzano, Cesar Montano, Aga Muhlach, and etc. In 1998, Willie became one of the co-hosts in Magandang Tanghali Bayan (MTB) together with best friends’ Randy Santiago and John Estrada. After he was fired from the said show, Willie went on a sabbatical to the United States for a couple of months. He was contemplating on retiring from showbiz and lives a quiet life there. But his plans change after getting a positive reaction from the Filipino-Americans who mingled with him during his stay.

Aside from being the top leading noon time host in Wowowee, Willie has also enjoys singing. In fact, he had made several albums already and his first album was produced by rapper Andrew E. The album, “Parental Guidance”, reached platinum status, but did not enjoy immense airplay at some radio stations because some songs in the album like “Ang Cute ng Pokémon” (”What a Cute Pokémon”) and “‘Wag Mong Pigilan” (”Don’t Stop”) had double-meaning lyrics. Willie is currently building his first real estate business Wil Theater Mall and will soon rise near ABS-CBN Eugenio Lopez Drive in Quezon City, Philippines.

They have firstly met in college at the College of Fine Arts of the University of the Philippines Diliman. Kamikazee’s early gigs were mostly campus events in UP Diliman like the annual UP Fair. Before they were signed, they went by the name “Kamikazee Cornflakes” in 2000, which was eventually shortened to its current state as “Kamikazee” was easier to remember. Their early shows included renditions of the songs “Tsinelas”, a cover of Ariel Rivera’s “Sana Kahit Minsan”, and Britney Spears’ Lucky.

In 2003 is proved to be the year of reckoning for Kamikazee as they also picked up the Listener’s Choice Award at the 2003 NU 107 Rock Awards function, while Allan Burdeos won the Drummer of the Year trophy. Two years since, they were names as the year’s Best Live Act at 2005 NU 107 Rock Awards. They also gave an electrifying performance of the hit song ‘Chicksilog’ that was nominated as the Song of the Year. The song reach the #1 position at NU 107’s Midnight Countdown and ended at the #9 position of the Yearend Countdown for 2005.

The band’s name speaks volumes of the band’s philosophy – pure passion and fearless music. The music they make will leave you exhausted, exhilarated and yearning for more…and Kamikazee is fast gaining the reputation as being one of the most explosive bands in the Filipino music arena. Their band influences are Parokya ni Edgar, Cheese, The Eraserheads, Deftones, New Found Glory, Slipknot, and Pantera.

The island is approximately about 2.5 kilometers long and 1km wide covered by the insular barangay of Logon (part of the Daanbantayan municipality), with eight hamlets. It only took 45 minutes pumboat ride away from Maya. You can get to Maya easily by taking a 4-hour trip by bus or mini-van from the North Bus terminal in Cebu City. Maya is some 145 kilometers away from the city via narrow and winding road passing through scenic landscapes along the way.

The name Malapascua means ‘Bad Christmas’ in Cebuano native. Legend has it that it was so named because the Spanish first landed here one stormy Christmas Day in the 1500’s. There is some debate about the name however because although ‘mal’ definitely means ‘bad’, ‘pasco’ means Christmas in the local language of Cebuano but “pascua” in Spanish means Easter. So maybe it was a stormy Easter after all.

Malapascua is known for its wide white sand beach, known as Bounty Beach; it has become known for its beautiful coral gardens and excellent dive spots nearby, including Monad Shoal, an underwater plateau where thresher sharks and manta rays can be sighted on a regular basis. This could be the only place in the world where divers can reliably sight thresher sharks. The best time to go shark diving in Malapascua Island is during the winter months. The dive resorts in Malapascua Island have hosted divers from all over the world including underwater photographers and film crews.

There are also several different bars and a wide selection of imported liquor as well as plentiful of imported beers and an extensive cocktail list, we’ll surely satisfy your needs. The island also brings you over hills to tranquil fishing- villages, deserted bays, mountains, and forest with coconut trees.

Rumor has been spread that the virus was the caused of his death but authorities still can’t be sure about this.

The 26-year-old Aboriginal man could be the first one to be claimed by the virus in the Asia-Pacific. He was hospitalized with multiple serious ailments and was diagnosed with swine flu, South Australia State Health Minister John Hill said. It is not yet known what the patient died of or where he became infected, he said. Swine flu has been reported most fatal in some other countries such as Mexico and the United States when there were thousands of people have died already.

Several countries in Asia Pacific have now also affected with this kind of virus and it shows the number of persons getting affected is gradually increasing. This could be tallied as one of the deadliest epidemics happen throughout history. Bangladesh, Laos, and Papua New Guinea now confirming the virus has been spread in their corresponding country.

The record shows where Australia has the highest tally of swine flu cases in the region, reaching about 2,330 people got affected. But Federal Health Minister Nicola Roxon confidently said that the virus remained mild in there and that most people infected made rapid and full recoveries.

As of this date, the World Health Organization declared swine flu a pandemic last week, it said more than 44,000 cases had been reported worldwide, with 180 deaths.

Roach, who added predicting how his prized ward’s fights would end to his resume, said Pacquiao’s May 2 (May 3 in Manila) fight against Ricky Hatton would end early when asked by reporters during “The Battle of East vs. West” promotional tour in Hollywood.

“I told Manny that if he doesn’t knock (Hatton) out in three rounds I’ll be disappointed. (Manny’s) training hard always and watching the tapes and dissecting Hatton’s style,” said Roach, who correctly predicted Pacquiao’s last two wins.

The hall of famer coach boldly predicted Pacquiao would beat David Diaz in the ninth round by way of knockout. His ward did not let disappoint his trainer and on June 28, 2008 Diaz went down by KO in the ninth.

He also predicted that Oscar De La Hoya would lose by a ninth round KO against Pacquiao. Prior to the fight, Roach said that De La Hoya could no longer pull the trigger and reiterated that De La Hoya’s height and size advantage against Pacquiao would not be a factor.

Roach’s predictions came true. Although the Filipino boxing superstar won by KO, he missed one round since the match ended after eight rounds with the “Golden Boy” deciding not to continue with the fight failing to catch up with a speedy and elusive Pacquiao.

In an interview with FightType.com, Roach said Manny knows the game plan very well. “We had some really good sparring partners and Manny’s doing well. We have the game plan down. Manny knows how to fight this guy.”

He added that Hatton would have a hard time using his left hook. “You know what Ricky Hatton does best he throws punches kind of holds you, ties you up and then sinks that left hook into the body, his best punch. We’re not going to be there. He’s not even going to be able to find us. We’re just way too fast for him.”
