Because of their huge body size & scale, it is very normal for most people becoming afraid to get in touch and swim with them. But they never realized that these gentle giant creatures are very friendly and playful to humans.

FYI, the Whale Sharks (Rhincodon typus) or the native called it Butanding are the largest fish in the world with its vast size that resembles to the whales from which its common name is derived. Their head are flattened and the wide mouth, positioned at the tip of the snout, stretches almost as wide as the body. Aside from dolphins, the whale sharks are one of the friendliest sea creatures to human beings. They are now belongs to the endangered species and catching with them are strictly prohibited.

This newly discovered attraction would really boast of the tourism in Cebu. For travelers, going to Tan-awan Oslob is very easy. You just ride a Ceres or Sunrays Bus via Oslob in Cebu South Bus Terminal located at N. Bacalso St. Cebu City. Trip will take about 2-3 hours time and the fare will normally cost you 149.00-154.00 Php.

If you haven’t familiar with the place yet, just tell the bus conductor to drop you off at the Tan-awan Barangay Hall. Or just look for the gate at the left side and ask the driver to stop the bus.

Php 300.00 – for non-Oslob residents (inclusive boat riding)

Php 100.00 – additional for tourists bringing video cameras

Php 30.00 – for Oslob residents (adults)

Php 15.00 – for Oslob residents (children below 12 years old)

Life Vest – Php 20.00

Snorkel – Php 100.00 (complete set)

Note: Viewing time starts at 6 AM and closes at 1PM
