Bulong: A Filipino Movie Review
Star Cinema Productions starts up big this year with a comedy-horror film entitled “Bulong” starring Vhong Navarro and sexy Filipina actress Angelica Panganiban. Helmed by multi-awarded director Chito Rono (Feng Shui, Sukob,Dagaw, T2), Bulong will be the first to be presented by the local company that it revolves mainly around a Filipino superstitious belief. With such a tremendous reputation, he could easily manipulate another Filipino custom and smother it with horror details in the mold of his past hits.
Based on the number and reactions of people who watched the movie from the moment it was first shown in cinemas, I am truly convinced that Bulong will get a box-office result. It has an excellent movie trailer which for me it was one of the most popular ones during the run of the Metro Manila Film Festival.
The story goes about a nurse (Vhong Navarro) who desperately wanted to get the love of Ellen (Bangs Garcia). With no chance at all, Navarro ends to the point where he opted to follow the Bulong; a Filipino superstitious belief that when you whisper a wish to the dead, the wish will come true. Instead granting his wish to get the feelings of Ellen, it turned out the other way around. He later finds that he’s got more than what he asked for. He then went to see a paranormal specialist (Angelica Panganiban) to ask for help and try to make it alright.
Movie co-stars include Angie Ferro, Jon Avila, Eda Nolan, Ruben Gonzaga, Carm Sanchez, Mosang, Joy Viado, Mel Kimura, Manuel Aquino with the special participation of Sylvia Sanchez, Neri Naig, Marissa Sanchez and Lara Morena.
