Mount Apo was declared as National Park by late President Manuel L. Quezon on May 9, 1936 through Presidential Proclamation No. 59 with an aggregate area of 76,900 hectares. However, it was amended by former President Carlos P. Garcia through issuance of Proclamation No. 413 which converted some 3,946 hectares into agricultural areas reducing the park’s land area to 72,954 hectares. On September 24, 1996, President Fidel Ramos issued another Proclamation 882 declaring Mt.Apo as protected area under the category of Natural Park.

Splash Island is considered the largest water park in the Philippines that is re-opened by Global Gutz Parks Philippine Inc. to let everyone experience and enjoys a complete aqua thrills and adventure among the many facilities and amenities in the island. It is located at the Southwood Ecocentrum in Biñan, Laguna. The park has a very huge area that it can accommodate 6,000 guests at any given time.

The route going to Splash Island is very easy and accessible. If you’re in Manila, just go to South Luzon Express Way and take Southwoods Exit. When you see a fork in the road after around 50 meters, take the left road. Just go straight and you’ll see Splash Island. In case you have trouble finding the right path, you can try to ask the toll gate personnel there to help and lead you the right way to Splash Island. It’s only about 5 minutes from Southwood Toll Gate.

Although the Splash Island here was patterned after the famous water theme park in the United States, there are also extra features added to assure everyone’s enjoyment and satisfaction. The Splash Island has multiple slides, pools, and other water attraction for guest of all ages. Add to these the assurance of security, the management has set up height and capability restriction for some attraction.

Several interesting stops you may find there are Magellan’s Drop (mat-race ride; downhill slide with you on your belly), Rio Montanosa (also called family raft, the starting point is higher than the Magellan’s Drop, with bigger rafts enough to accommodate the entire family). If you want to warm up your butt and slide, take the Dos Supremos and the King Pilipit (both with no mat or rubber; just you and the slide). If you want to slide but prefer a rubber raft between the surface and you’re behind, take the Big Bam Boo and the Twisted Palms. If you just want to sit around and imagine that you’re at the beach, try the Agos Grandes, a swimming pool with waves.

Entrance fee in Splash Island is different in weekdays and weekends. Recently, the entrance fee on weekdays is P250 for adults and P200 for children/senior citizens. On weekends, admission fee is P325 for adults and P250 for children/senior citizens. Children under 36? are free of charge.

Manila Ocean Park considers the first state-of-the-art Oceanarium which is located behind the Quirino Grandstand Luneta, Manila, Philippines. Its main attraction is a 25-meter long, 220 degree curved acrylic walkway tunnel. Aside from the Oceanarium itself, the marine park has also boutique mall, restaurant row, and function facilities. It is owned by China Oceanis Philippines Inc., a subsidiary of China Oceanis Group Ltd (COG); a company that specializes in the investment, building, and operation of public aquarium/oceanarium attractions.

The Oceanarium journey is divided into six sections and each section will carry a Filipino name: “Agos”; “Bahura”; “Buhay na Karagatan”; “Pating”; “Ang Kailaliman”; and “Laot”. It replicates the water flow from a fresh water source that eventually leads to the open ocean, creating a model of interconnectedness between land and sea. It then takes one through the different depths of the sea showcasing each area’s beautiful and natural inhabitants.

Manila Ocean Park president Lim Chee Yong proudly said that the marine park would be among the most advanced ocean parks in Asia. It could also well be one of the biggest in Asia with an area larger than the famous Sentosa oceanarium in Singapore. “Sentosa is 6,000 square meters while this one is 8,000 square meters,” Lim said. He also compared the Manila Ocean Park with Hong Kong Ocean Park adding that although it has lots of fun rides, “the Hong Kong Ocean Park showcases a smaller oceanarium.”

The ocean park project has an approximately cost of 1 billion pesos that would contain 12,000 cubic meters of seawater featuring 300 marine species indigenous to the Philippines and Southeast Asia. The Manila Ocean Park was first opened to the public last March 1, 2008. Until then, the Manila Ocean Park is open everyday from 10:00AM to 9:00PM. Admission fee is Php 400.00 for adults and Php 350.00 for kids.

It lies between the Bohol Strait to the south and the Camotes Sea to the north. To the east is the Olango Channel while to the west is the Hilutungan Channel. The island has seven barangays, one of which is Sta. Rosa (erroneously used to refer to the whole of Olango Island), where the island’s wharf and parish church is located. Olango Island hosts seven Lapu-Lapu city ba-rangays, namely, Baring, Caw-oy, Sabang, Santa Rosa, Talima, Tingo and Tunga-san.

Olango Island is very accessible for those who want to explore this beautiful place of pure nature. If you are from Cebu City, you can ride a jeepney for Lapulapu City. The jeepney terminal can be found near the old White Gold Department Store, in the reclamation area. Upon arrival in Lapulapu City, go for the tricycle bound for Dapdap or Angasil. Disembark at the Mar Y Cielo Beach Resort. Take a pumpboat for Santa Rosa (in Olango Island). From the Santa Rosa Wharf, the sanctuary can be reached by tricycle or foot.

The whole island including its neighboring islets has a total land area of 10.3 km² (1,030 hectares). The reef flat-lagoon surrounding the island of Olango is considered one of the most extensive reef areas in the Central Visayas. It has 4,482 hectares of extensive sandy beach, rocky shoreline, inshore flats, sea grass beds, coral reefs, mangrove forest, mudflats, and salt marsh grass surround Olango and its satellite islets.

Olango Island is considered a nature and animal-friendly place. In fact, the island has a 920-hectare secluded wetland called the Olango Island Wildlife Sanctuary. It supports the largest concentration of migratory birds found so far in the country from September to November traveling the East Asian Migratory Flyway. By late February until May, these birds return to their breeding grounds in the reverse Northward Migration. There are total of 77 species of migratory birds use this flyway, and Olango Island supports 62% of this number.

It is also called the “City of Pines” due to all the pine trees growing on the mountain slopes around the city. If you ride a plane from Metro Manila, it only takes an hour for you to arrive in Baguio. For economical reasons, you can also ride a bus but it takes you not less than 5 hours upon arrival. Some people prefer to ride a bus for them to enjoy seeing the views as the road enters the mountainous regions.

During 1900s, Baguio City was established by Americans at the site of an Ibaloi village known as Kafagway which the name derived from the word bagiw, the indigenous language of the Benguet Region, meaning “moss”. On June 1, 1903, the place was officially designated by the Philippine Commission as the summer capital of the Philippines. According to the 2000 census, it has a population of 252,386 in 52,302 households.

There are many ways of transportations upon reaching Baguio. One of the examples is jeepneys, a common transportation because of its cheap way to travel. However, taxis are more convenient to ride than jeepneys.

Burnham Park is synonymous to Baguio which is located in the heart of the city. The park features a man-made lagoon ideal for boat rides, a skating rink, an athletic field and stadium, basketball and tennis courts, a biking zone, tree-and-flower lined promenades, and a plant market. Baguio has been also popular for its golfing destination; the city takes pride in its Baguio Country Club and Camp John Hay.

Baguio is a major tourist destination for domestic tourists as well as foriegners. It is especially famous with the Balikbayans to have vacation there. The cool climate is a primary reason enough to visit, though some of the attractions and scenery add to the experience.

The Chocolate Hills is considered Bohol’s most popular tourist attraction. It composes approximately 1,268 perfectly cone-shaped hills of about the same size, spread over an area of more than 50 square kilometers. The domes vary in sizes from 30 to 50 meters (98 to 160 ft) high with the largest being 120 meters (390 ft) in height. They are covered in green grass that turns brown during the dry season, hence the name. These hills are scattered throughout the towns of Carmen, Batuan, and Sagbayan in Bohol.

There were some humors on how these beautiful hills originally formed. The first tells the story of two feuding giants who hurled rocks, boulders and sand at each other. The fighting lasted for days, and exhausted the two giants. In their exhaustion, they forgot about their feud and became friends, but when they left they forgot to clean up the mess they had made during their battle, hence the Chocolate Hills.

Others believed of its romantic legend which tells of a giant named Arogo who was extremely powerful and youthful. Arogo fell in love with Aloya who was a simple mortal. Aloya’s death caused Arogo much pain and misery, and in his sorrow he could not stop crying. When his tears dried the Chocolate Hills started to formed. Also, other legend tells of a town being plagued by a giant carabao, which ate all of their crops and also some might say it is about a Gluttonous giant named Dano that eats everything in his path.

However, up to this day, even geologists have not reached consensus on how they where formed. The most commonly accept theory is that they are the weathered formations of a kind of marine limestone on top of impermeable layer of clay. For example, if you climb the 214 steps to the top of the observation hill near the complex, you can read this explanation on a bronze plaque.

Bohol is rich of their eco-cultural tourism destination and considers a strong agro-industrial province with an empowered and self-reliant people who are God loving, law-abiding, proud of their cultural heritage and committed to the growth and protection of the environment. Bohol’s Chocolate Hills is cited as a Geological Movement of the country and is also known as the Eight Wonder of the World which every Boholano must proud of it. Aside from it, Bohol is also blessed with fertile soil and plentiful sea making it the farmland and fish pen of Central Visayas.

It is known as a home and the official residence of the President of the Philippines. The palace is also referred to as the office of the president, as well as in everyday parlance and in the media. Malacañang Palace (Malacañan Palace) or Filipinos called it Palasyo ng Malakanyang is located along the north bank of the Pasig River in Manila. The term “Malacañang” is a metonym for the Philippine President’s administration, or the Executive branch. Whatever its origin, the word Malacañang is indisputably Spanish. Americans, who occupied the Philippines from 1898 until 1946, referred to the Palace as Malacañan, owing to their linguistic difficulty with the Spanish name. The word “Malacañan” remains to this day an acceptable English version name of the Palace.

In the late 18th century, Malacañang Palace was first constructed by a Spanish nobleman, Don Luis Rocha, and was later the summer residence of the 18 Spanish governors general and 14 American civil governors, before becoming the official residence of the President of the Philippines after independence. Originally built as a private country house, Malacañang was developed into an ornate Spanish colonial palace complete with arches, patios, balconies, grilles, and sliding windows with panes made of capiz shells. Thereafter it was renovated on several occasions including most extensively during the residence of President Marcos.

Malacañang Palace is the official office of the President which is equivalent to the United States’ Oval Office of the White House. It is on the second floor of the Palace itself, while the old Executive Office in Kalayaan Hall has been renamed the Quezon Room. The desk is the presidential desk in use since the Commonwealth of the Philippines, when the official desk of the American governor-generals was brought to the United States; it was used by all presidents from Quezon to Marcos (officially until 1978, then in his private study), restored by President Ramos, used by First Lady Loi Ejercito Estrada, and restored once more by President Arroyo.

Recently, the complex has the Malacañang Palace, the Bonifacio Hall, Kalayaan Hall, Mabini Hall, and the New Executive building. Everyone would find Malacañang Park across the river that has a golf course and the Commonwealth era presidential rest house. The architectural style of the Malacañang Presidential Palace in Manila has undergone several alterations since the last 150 years and has lost its original architectural merit. It is seen with arches, balconies, frills and sliding windows.

Taal Lake is a freshwater lake located in the province of Batangas, on the island of Luzon, Philippines. It is formerly known as Bombon Lake, is 60 km south of Manila. It is the deepest lake in the Philippines (172 m) and the third largest in area (234.2 km2). The active Taal Volcano, which is the one responsible for the lake’s sulfuric content, lies on an island in the center of the lake, called Volcano Island. The island is called pulo or islet by the locals.

It is a caldera lake, having been formed partly by the collapse of a large volcanic crater and partly by subsidence. Subsequent volcanic activity has modified the morphometry of the lake. During the 10th century, it was connected to the sea at Balayan Bay by a wide channel, but an extremely powerful eruption of the Taal Volcano in 1754 rearranged the shape of the lake and narrowed the outlet to form the present day Pansipit River, the lake’s only outflow, which leaves the lake in its southwest corner and travels about 10 km to the sea.

One can even swim inside the Crater Lake but the lake’s water is a much diluted form of sulfuric acid with high concentration of boron, magnesium, aluminum and sodium in salt form. Its mean depth measures 20 m. In its dark water no life of fish is possible.

Taal Lake is situated in a highly populated and rapidly growing agricultural and industrial region. The Philippine Government has designated the Taal region as a favored site for setting up new industries and infrastructures. The whole region surrounding Lake Taal is at considerable volcanic risk.

Overfishing is one of the biggest problems as well as the pollution of the lake through waste water from the industry and households. Unsustainable development presents also a very real threat to the lake.

Taal Lake is home to a venomous black and white “sea snake” (Hydrophis semperi). This species is one of only a few snakes of its type that breeds in freshwater. Taal Lake is also habitat of world’s only freshwater sardine, Sardinella tawilis. The bleniid Omobranchus ferox is also endemic to Lake Taal.
