Aquino Takes an Early Lead in Unofficial RP Presidential Race

As of 11:45 PM (UTC/GMT) in the Philippines, Liberal Party’s presidential bet Sen. Benigno “NoyNoy” Aquino enjoys an early lead in the unofficial election poll. If he wins, Aquino promises to give the Filipino people what they deserve by fighting the endemic corruption of the current government and helping them to save from poverty.

“Corruption is the single biggest threat to our democracy,” Aquino, a 50-year-old bachelor who has an economics degree, said on his official blog.

Noynoy may run for President in 2010 election

Mar-NoynoyThe son of the late ex-president Corazon C. Aquino might run for 2010 presidency when his main rival for their party’s nomination stepped aside. Liberal Party chief Senator Mar Roxas made a sacrifice by withdrawing his candidacy for next year’s presidential campaign so that Senator Benigno ‘Noynoy’ Aquino III could run.

In his speech, he said that Noy has made it clear to him that he wants to carry the torch of leadership. The passing of our beloved former President Aquino has reawakened a passion among us. He also added that he personally acknowledged this as fuel to bring us fellow Filipinos to the realization of our dream: Good will triumph over evil.
