The word itself has different meanings in most places in the Philippines. Some people in Luzon area says that Tinola refers to the clear chicken broth with papayas and chili leaves. But generally, major areas in Visayas and Mindanao refer Tinola as a clear fish broth. Most pinoys if not all really love to eat this very delicious and aromatic dish.

Tinolang isda serves best when it is still hot and the fish belongs from the freshest catch of the day. Aside from the terrific taste and aromatic smell, the dish has plenty of nutrients and vitamins that we can get from it which would play a vital role to our body.

You can see below my simple but yet very delicious tinolang isda recipe:

- ½ kilo fish (any medium to large fresh fish will do)
-1/2 medium size onion sliced
- 2 medium size tomatoes
- 4-5 pcs. green pepper
- salt

Directions:

Clean the fish. In a pot bring to a boil 1 1/2 liter of water, add onion and tomato (you can also add tanglad and ginger if available) then simmer for 3 to 5 minutes. Add in the fish and continue to simmer for 3-5 minutes. Season it with salt to taste. Cook until fish is already cooked. Serve hot and enjoy!

Lemlunay or also known as T’Boli Tribal Festival is an annual celebration staged at Lake Sebu, South Cotabato in Philippines. It is celebrated every third week of September that features tribal rituals that start at early down amidst sounds of gongs and native music, culminating at the town plaza where cultural dances and ethic sports like horsefight are held.

However, Lemlunay Festival is renowned by the 6 major tribes of South Cotabato (T´boli, Ubo, Manobo, Kalagan, Maguindanao, Tasaday) together with representatives from the different tribes in Davao (Tirurays, Mandaya, Surigao tribes, Langilan, Bilaan, Bagog, Mansaka). It was originally just a small town fiesta celebrating the feast day of Sta Cruz.

During 1970’s, the religious feast has incorporated the features of the Mo-inum or thanksgiving ritual of the T´bolis. The commemorative mass held during the final day features a unique blend of Catholic ritual and ethnic color.

This festival was from the belief of the T’Boli in a golden age that they called Lemlunay which means “the good place one goes to in the afterlife”. The word “Lemlunay” is a sort of Camelot or paradise that they would like to make for their tribe. It is when the people there reenergize and renew their vow to work for this coveted state of life.

As of yesterday at 11 pm, there were already 9 people found dead, 926 survived, and 63 still went missing of the ill-fated ship that was sank on Sunday morning after tilting for several hours in Siocon Bay near the Zamboanga Peninsula.

In an initial investigation, Coast Guard chief Admiral Wilfredo Tamayo said that the ship left General Santos City at 8:45 a.m. Saturday and was heading for Iloilo when it began having problems with its generator. The SuperFerry 9′s generator fluctuated several times. Authorities said they would investigate the cause of the sinking as soon as search and rescue operations are over.

The Coast Guard report said SuperFerry 9 listed to approximately 35 degrees towards her starboard side until she reportedly sank at vicinity 9.5 nautical miles west of Banga Point in Siocon, Zamboanga del Norte. However, it was not yet clear what caused the ship to tilt and on what side it was tilting.

The latter was carrying 200,000 liters of industrial fuel oil, 80,000 liters automotive diesel oil, and 10,000 liters lube oil when it departed from Manila for Iloilo and General Santos City.

Philippine Coast Guard sent search-and-rescue vessels BRP Batangas from Cebu, and BRP Corregidor from Palawan to help in search-and-rescue work. Aboitiz company which owns the SuperFerry, also sent their another ship “Myriad” to the area to help in rescue operations. MV Ocean Integrity was incidentally also there to give help.

Aside from Navy ships, three military aircraft were also deployed to scour the seas, according to Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro, who also heads the National Disaster Coordinating Council (NDCC). American troops whose currently training counter-terrorism for Philippine soldiers in Mindanao likewise deployed a civilian helicopter and five boats, some carrying paramedics, to help, US Col. William Coultrup said.
