The school trains for future officers of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) which was first established as the “Officers’ School of the Philippine Constabulary” on February 17, 1905 at Intramuros, Manila and presently located in Baguio City, Philippines.

The Philippine Military Academy composes a selective group of students or known as Cadets that have good academic background. And also, it is very important for a cadet to have dedication and passion in order to become a true soldier. A graduate of the Philippine Military Academy focuses on the knowledge and skills of management of equipments and the leadership of its men to serve and protect.

Cadets will normally report to the academy every April 1st. If you enrolled, it is already understandable that each of you has agreed the terms and policies of the said academy. Everyone must expect a rigorous training and make their daily activities a busy one. During weekends or free-time, cadets have rights to choose whether they leave camp to enjoy a movie, visit friends, or dine out in Baguio City or just prefer to stay inside camp and receive visitors and enjoy the recreational facilities available.

Every cadet must follow their Honor Code, this is what distinguishes a PMA cadet from students of other institutions. It is very important for them not only to know the code but to practice and practice and make it a way of life. The life of PMA cadets revolves around strict adherence to the honor code.

Bantayan Island is a semi-little secret island of paradise and one of the 15 islands clustered off in the northwest tip of Cebu. If you want to breathe fresh air and stay away from the heavy traffic in the city, Bantayan Island is a perfect place for you. Everyone can get there around via motorbikes with less traffic. Aside from that, this place is also known for its powder white sands, crystal clear water, especially along the southwest coast and a low-key, laid-back resort with very friendly people around there.

Going to Bantayan Island is easy and hassle-free. If you are in Cebu City area, there are two options in going there either you can ride a bus to Hagnaya; then after that you can go by boat from Hagnaya to Santa Fe where there are regular ferries daily to Santa Fe on Bantayan Island. The other option is just simply ride a fast craft like Oceanjet and hydrofoil from Cebu City toward the island in less than an hour.

Bantayan Island has lots of resorts to choose from. All resorts are a tricycle ride from the Santa Fe pier. Santa Fe (a known province in the island) has also some very good food and, during the high season, a lively bar scene is a perfect place for you to chill out. They often serve fresh sea foods and excellent Thai foods and it is worthwhile to come back to Bantayan just for this kind of foods.

If you are in a budget, Bantayan Island is the right place for you where there are many affordable smaller hotels/resorts with cottages and rooms in just about every price range from less than $5.00/USD to $40.00/USD per night & up through $100+ through a lovely South Sea studio Villa on a very beautiful property, and all the way to $240.00USD for a honeymoon styled studio Villa on a gorgeous property.

The people of Baguio will once again be in full bloom as they celebrates the annual Panagbenga Festival this coming February. Everyone can experience the grand floral street dance and floral float parade which you’ve never seen before. Not only that, it is one of the most visited festival as well for it is just a couple of hours away from the Metro.

From there, Baguio is accessible by air and land transportation. Asian Spirits Airline maintains a daily schedule of flights from Manila to Baguio and back to Manila. There are also various bus companies, garage cars, and tours operators supplement the transportation requirements of tourists and visitors.

The term “Panagbenga” came from a kankanaey which means “a season of blooming, a time for flowering.” It is formerly known as the Baguio Flower Festival that was all began in 1995 when lawyer; Damaso E. Bangaoet, Jr., John Hay Poro Point Development Corporation (JPDC) Managing Director for Camp John Hay, presented to the Board of Directors of JPDC the idea of spearheading the holding of a flower festival in Baguio City. The Board, then led by the Bases Conversion Development Authority (BCDA) Chairman Victor A. Lim and JPDC President Rogelio L. Singson, approved the project immediately. It was also decided that the Festival be held every February.

The festival usually attracts thousands of visitors which has several flower festival-related activities like the Bulaklak Rock Battle of the Bands, a local arts show, a skateboard competition, a Dolls of Japan Exhibit and Eiga Sai filmfest, Kitefest, barangay beautification contest, the search for Mr. and Ms. Baguio Flower Festival, and the famous floral floats, street-dancers, and bands parade.

Everyone was amazed on how Manny Pacquiao worked with the mitts. He is oozing with power and tremendous speed.

Manny showed us that he is very well-prepared and 100% ready against this tough Puerto Rican Welterweight Champion. “I can’t wait for the fight,” declared the reigning pound-for-pound champion as he limbered up, with mediamen lining up three sides of the ring.

“Training was good. I don’t think I was even distracted during the camp,” he also added. It was when asked about the tension – including the series of calamities that occurred when he first began training camp in Baguio City, Philippines.

Manny had eight weeks of hard work and intense training as he prepares one of the toughest fights on his entire career.

“This is a huge fight for me. This is a big fight. Because if I win I become the first boxer to capture seven titles in seven weight divisions,” he said.

The pound-for-pound king acknowledges that his speed is the main weapon he has against Cotto. And believe that he has also power to neutralize the size advantage of the Puerto Rican boxer.

“Kahit tumagal ang fight wala ako problema (Even if the fight lasts long I won’t have a problem),” said Pacquiao, even if his chief trainer Freddie Roach had predicted a knockout that could come in the first round or at most the 10th.

Luna St., Intramuros, Manila, Philippines. It is a 10-minute walk towards Aduana St., an alternative route would be to take any pier-bound PUJ in Quezon City and get off at Aduana St. The museum recreates the lifestyle during the colonial period through antique furniture, paintings, lighting fixtures, and other objects of decorative art. As with all new structures built within the walls of Intramuros, facades here are based on colonial period designs.

The museum is a replica of a 19th century Binondo residence where the endeavor is to let know the then culture. In 1981, the Casa Manila was constructed and known as the product of the Intramuros Administration’s initiative to preserve our heritage and showcase the various phases of Philippine life and architecture.

Casa Manila is a perfect setting to step back into the past that is in contrast to the fast pace of the city life. It brings the style of living of the Philippine upper class, or ilustrados as they were known at the time. Casa Manila is somewhat called a three-storey house that is faithfully restored Spanish colonial house that also offers an insight to the classic lifestyle. The walls of the ground floor are made of adobe stones that you may see or buy antiques, art objects, and souvenir items. The stones or volcanic tuff was quarried from Makati and Meycuayan, Bulacan for building material.

The rooms are set up in period style and decorated with antique furniture, chandeliers, lamps, paintings, vases and bric-a-brac. From the kitchen on the top floor, one can walk down the adobe staircase, old well, the courtyard and fountain. It shows the unique style of architecture and furniture that blends the Spanish and the Asian styles.

The Casa Manila Museum is open from Tuesday to Sunday; 9 am – 12 pm, 1 pm – 6 pm. Admission: Adults PHP40; children and students PHP15.

Fruit salad recipe is a very simple and easy to prepare. All you need to do is to prepare the fruits of your own choice. Please select the freshest fruits in the market so that you will be able to have the best and healthy salad in town. This recipe is a perfect to serve during special occasions like b-days, Christmas, New Year, and Fiestas. Occasions are not somehow complete w/o it.

It has been proven that fruit salad has antioxidants to slow down the aging process, prevent and even reverse cancer and heart disease and strengthen the immune system. Plus, eating assorted fresh fruits is very delicious and fun too.

For me, it is best to prepare the salad ahead of time. You may cover and place it to the refrigerator first to hold the freshness of your fruit salad. And also, it allows the topping to gradually seep into all the fruit which not only looks pretty but distributes the taste.

Ingredients:

• 2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
• 1/2 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
• 2 (15.25 ounce) cans fruit cocktail
• 3 tablespoons maraschino cherries, halved
• 1 banana, sliced
• 2 mangoes
• 2 apples
• strawberries (optional)

Directions:

Blend together the cream cheese and condensed milk until smooth. Drain the juice from 1 can of the fruit cocktail and add to cream cheese mixture. Add the other can with all its juice, mangoes, apples, cherries, and banana. Mix together. Add extra condensed milk to sweeten if desired. Cover with saran wrap and chill. Mix before serving.

The much-awaited fight between Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire Jr. and Rafael “El Torito” Concepcion that billed as “Pinoy Power 2” will set to clash each other on August, 15, 2009 at the New Joint in the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas. The fight is on a Pay-Per-View which promoted by Bob Arum’s Top Rank beginning at 6 p.m. PDT, with a suggested retail price of $34.95.

During today’s weigh-in, “The Filipino Flash” Nonito Donaire Jr., of the Philippines weighs in at 115 lb while his opponent Rafael “El Torito” Concepcion of Panama came in over weight at 119.5 lb. The extra 4 lbs makes this fight a non-title bout that the WBA interim world Super Flyweight is not likely at stake.

Despite of their weigh-in controversies, Donaire still wants this fight to prove each one of us that he can bring his speed and power in heavier weight class. Nonito said he is definitely going for a knockout but if the complexion of the fight leans toward a war of attrition, a win by decision will be just as fulfilling. The Filipino warrior revealed that the fight against Concepcion is not an easy task because he (Concepcion) is a great body puncher and has a heart too but Nonito is very confident to dethrone the Panamanian tomorrow.

“I feel good,” said Donaire on the eve of the weigh-in for the bout. “My weight’s good and I’ve trained really hard. With my new training, I feel I’ve gained more muscle mass so it feels like I’m still going down to 112. I do feel a lot better at 115. Definitely, the extra three pounds are a big help. I’m really confident. I’m out to use my speed and power to take care of business.”

Meanwhile, fellow Filipino boxer’s Bernabe Concepcion and Mark Jason Melligen will also take an action as an undercard on Pinoy Power 2 against their respective opponents. Bernabe Concepcion tries to upset the WBO Featherweight champion Steven Luevano while Mark Jason Melligen will do battle against Ernesto Zepeda in a 10-round welterweight war.

The Filipinos love to hear this song while doing the so-called “clap-clap-point” dance step. A big hit in Korea since early 2008, the Wonder Girls has crossed over to Manila in such a big way that even the world-famous Cebu inmates have a video which show the boys dancing to the song.

The group originally composed of five members such as Sun Ye (Sun), Sun Mi (Mimi), Sohee, Ye Eun (Yenny), and Yubin. Ex-member Hyuna was removed from the group by her parents due to their concern over her health in particular, chronic gastroenteritis. The Wonder Girls was produced by singer-songwriter Park Jin-Young and are signed to his talent agency, JYP entertainment.

On February 28, 2009, the group had their first international tour in Bangkok, Tailand. Then, they together with mentor JYP held concerts in the United States visiting several states such as Los Angeles, La Mirada, and New York City. The Wonder Girls joined the concert of Jonas Brothers on the North American leg of the Jonas Brothers World Tour 2009. Due to demands, the group also released an English version of their single “Nobody”. The girls’ US debut album is up for release next year.

The Wonder Girls has already released a mini-album (“The Wonder Begins”), three full-length albums (“The Wonder Years”, “So Hot” and “The Wonder Years Trilogy”) and they have earned two Daesangs (their equivalent to the Grammy’s). They have three consecutive Number Ones under their belts: “Tell Me”, “So Hot” and “Nobody”.

I think there are still many of you guys out there seems doesn’t know this girl yet. Anyway, just let me introduce Ms. Aiko Kimberly Climaco with you. Well, this girl is one of the prettiest faces in ASF dancers today. Aiko Kimberly Climaco is a Filipina dancer which was born on August 6, 1989 in Caloocan City, Philippines. She is a student of Ateneo de Manila University.

Aiko is a member of the ASF dancers which was discovered by Anna Santos Feliciano. ASF is an acronym of Anna Santos Feliciano, a talent scout and staff of Wowowwee. Among of the ASF dancers, you can easily distinguish Aiko from them because of her charming looks and sexiness. Although the other members of ASF are beautiful, Aiko is more way better than anyone of them. Its simplicity and extraordinary talent makes her really unique.

The group has been regularly performing in Wowowwee, a top rated noon-time show of ABS-CBN. It is very rare for regular dancers with the height of a miss universe-type beauty to still maintain her poise while performing extraordinary steps in dancing. Lately, this pretty lass from Wowowwee is gaining momentum on the number of fans especially males.

In fact, Aiko’s fan base on the internet is now getting bigger and bigger that many of them considered her as darling of the crowd in Wowowwee. They are obsessed of her beauty. In fairness to her, Aiko has all the looks and potentials in becoming a super stardom someday.
