Biliran Island is a province in Central Philippines which lies between Northern Leyte and Eastern Samar. It is surrounded on the north by the Samar Sea; on the east by Western Samar; on the west by Visayan Sea; and on the south by Carigara Bay. Biliran Island is a volcanic island with many of laid back resorts and beaches and has some beautiful good diving spots. As of May 2000 census, the island of Biliran has a population of 140,274.

The province is composed of eight towns such as Kawayan, Almeria, Naval, Biliran, Culaba, Caibiran, Cabucgayan, and Maripipi, with Naval as the capital town. Fishing and seaport industry are there main source of living. Fashion bags, Romblon bags, and shellcrafts are the major industries in the province.

Naval is the capital of Biliran which is an excellent port and are often the gateway to further destinations within the Visayas and Mindanao. It is a bit of a nondescript town on the west coast of the island.

The main resort towns in Biliran Island are Almeria, Cabucgayan, Caibiran, and Naval, the capital. Almeria has some of the best snorkeling on Biliran Island and is also used as a launch point for nearby Dalutan Island, where there is even better snorkeling.

Tinago falls is just a few kilometers from town. Everyone can enjoy swimming to its crystal clear water that plummets 30m from a high stone ridge into a fresh plunge pool.

Although Biliran Island doesn’t have its own airport but it’s just take a couple of hours from the nearest one in Tacloban City to the southeast. So what are you waiting for, come and visit this undiscovered island of the Philippines.
